Our Story
Established in 2000, the Waiwera Valley Association has been instrumental in creating positive change with the support of our dedicated members and volunteers in the Wainui community. The WVA (Waiwera Valley Association) was initially created to provide a means for addressing the shared concerns of the residents by providing a single voice for dealing with authorities and other organisations. We have now expanded our work to include emergency response preparation, environmental work, community connection and capacity building within our area.
We welcome all new members to strengthen our voice, connect and join us in making a difference.

Our Impact
Building a Strong Community
Neighbourhood connections
Creating events that bring neighbours together, strengthen relationships and a sense of belonging.
We host a community event every 6 months and organise regular working bees.
Infrastructure growth
Enabling progress
Providing a single voice for dealing with authorities and other organisations. To gain traction with issues such as roading, flooding, and community facilities.
The WVA was instrumental in obtaining fibre connection in the area and has recently lobbied for road sealing in Upper Waiwera Road.
Educational Empowerment
Community Resilience
Supporting rural lifestyles
Providing educational workshops to help locals with rural living. Check out our workshops throughout the year to upskill on things like pest control, chainsaw use, animal rearing, emergency preparedness etc.
Our recent workshop on willow control was well attended and we're planning more!
Emergency response preparation
Our current focus is emergency response planning to prepare our community for times we may be isolated during extreme weather events.
The WVA has installed two AED devices in our neighbourhood and has funded equipment such as generators and emergency radios for preparedness.
